BREAKING NEWS!! Victor Valdes To Sign Manchester United Deal Until 2016

Manchester United have agreed a two-year deal with former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes and are set to announce the 32-year-old has arrived as an understudy to David De Gea.

The Champions League winning goalkeeper has been training with Louis Van Gaal’s squad for the last two months as a free agent, as he looked to make a recovery from a serious knee injury.

Valdes was linked to the Premier League last summer when his contract at Catalan giants Barcelona expired but the injury scuppered those chances, as well as ruining his proposed move to Monaco.

Van Gaal has had little to say about Valdes during his two-month spell at the club but has been impressed enough by the veteran to offer a contract.

The arrival of the World Cup winning goalkeeper will give De Gea decent competition for the first-team jersey for the first time, as Anders Lindegaard is considered surplus to

Whilst the arrival of Valdes could aid De Gea’s development, it will also undoubtedly lead to speculation about the Spaniard’s future at Old Trafford.

United have not managed to get the 24-year-old to sign a new contract, whilst Real Madrid are lurking in the shadows ready to make a move.

Goalkeepers are set to depart United in January as the club look to let Lindegaard return to Scandinavia, whilst they will not stand in the way of Ben Amos should an offer be received.

The former England U21 star will be allowed to leave if he receives an offer, whilst Lindegaard has been linked with Molde.

Lindegaard has not featured for United this season and the club have high hopes 19-year-old Joel Perreira will be a suitable third-choice stopper.
