Imo state governor Rochas Okorocha has sparked outrage and controversy after he unveiled a giant statue of South Africa president, Jacob Zuma in Owerri yesterday.
Zuma is on a two day visit to Owerri, Imo State, South East Nigeria. He was conferred with the “Ochiagha Imo” chieftaincy title by Eze Imo, HRH Samuel Ohiri Owerri, Imo State.
Aside the chieftain title conferred on him, a road was named after him and then, a statue of him was unveiled in Owerri city.
This has triggered fierce reactions from Imo state indigents and Nigerians who took to social media to vent their disappointment and anger.
The visit of President Zuma, according to Imo State government, is for the signing of an MoU between Rochas Foundation with the Zuma Foundation.
