Once again, the superiority between the two African artists has been registered, after Starboy Wizkid went to Ghana to perform at the CAF Awards, which held yesterday, and Shatta Wale did not perform.
Yesterday, when Wiz landed in Ghana, he said, “A guy man no fit guy a guy man”, a shade that was obviously directed to Shatta Wale.
Few weeks ago, Shatta Wale threatened to disrupt Wizkid in Ghana, whenever the latter visits the East African country to perform. However, Wizkid landed Ghana, and he performed at the aiteo CAF Awards which held yesterday in Accra, the capital city where Salah was crowned the winner of the African Footballer of the year.
Like every other event, several musicians were billed to perform amongst them were Wizkid, Shatta Wale, Efya, Flavour, and Kidi.
Ghanaian musician, Efya started the show by singing the Nation’s anthem, then other acts got to perform as the show progressed.
Prior to the award show, fans of Shatta Wale wouldn’t let our ears rest when it was revealed that Shatta would be performing at the event for the second time after his last performance at the award show in Nigeria in 2016
Some of these fans teased Stonebwoy and used the opportunity to pull another comparison again for obvious reasons. Everyone especially Ghanaians were waiting to see Shatta Wale mount the stage and perform as announced but throughout the show, there was no sign of the artiste coming to perform and rumors started spreading on Social media that, he’s unlikely to perform because of some disagreements.
Some posts from Social media suggested that, Shatta Wale felt disrespected with how the organisers of the show were handling things and left but we cannot conclude since we’ve not heard officially from the organisers or the camp of Shatta Wale as to the reasons why he couldn’t perform on the night.
Interestingly, all of the Nigerian acts performed on the night and this has infuriated Ghanaians and many have registered their displeasure on social media, asking why such an event was held in Ghana and Ghanaian artistes were not given same opportunities to perform but rather Nigerians were allowed to dominate the show once again.
This situation reminds us of his tweet to Sarkodie last year, when Sarkodie also decided to leave the stage of the One Africa Music Festival when he felt disrespected. Shatta Wale had tweeted to Sarkodie to respect his brand and not allow the Nigerians use him.
Well, the same thing happened to Shatta Wale and he also left? We believe he’s now come to understand how Sarkodie felt at the time.
