Nigerian-Born Anthony Joshua Knockouts Dominic Breazeale in the Seventh to Defend his Heavyweight Title (PHOTOS)

Nigerian-born British star Anthony Joshua successfully defended his IBF heavyweight title with a spectacular seventh-round knockout win over American Dominic Breazeale.

It was a dominant title defence for IBF champion Joshua at the O2 Arena, forcing referee Howard Foster to wave off the fight after a vicious left hook dropped Breazeale in the seventh.

To his credit, Breazeale bravely extended Joshua past the halfway mark for only the second time in his career, but the 26-year-old drew on his concussive power to bring the night to an end.

Joshua’s hand speed was on show from the first bell as he sent out searing right hands, staggering the challenger with a three-punch combination, and a big left hook in the second, and picking up in the third with devastating jabs.

The tough Californian showed his string chin all through and even enjoyed a rare moment of success in the fifth, landing a right hand of his own before the two fighters engaged in a face-off at the bell.

Joshua’s nose was even bloodied in the sixth, with Breazeale threatening to last longer than any of his previous opponents, but this prompted a ferocious response in the seventh.

With Breazeale backing to the ropes, Joshua unloaded a barrage of heavy artillery that sent his rambunctious opponent toppling onto his front.
